what are buttonhook forge knives made from?

Blade steels typically used at Buttonhook Forge include O1 and 80crv2. Pattern welded builds (Damascus) often utilize 1084, 15n20 and 1095. Check out the product descriptions for more detail.

Handle and pins vary from natural to synthetic materials. We often use in-house stabilized woods as well as sourced micarta and G10.

How do i care for these knives?

Buttonhook Forge knives are made from tough high carbon steels which differs from common stainless steels. High carbon steel is not dishwasher safe and can be prone to rust if not properly taken care of. Do not put knives away wet and a light coat of oil or beeswax on occasion isn’t a bad idea. While in my experience this has never been an issue, it is something to me mindful of. (I have always just wiped my knife on my pants leg before putting it back in the sheath and haven’t had any issues).

Are these blades made in the USA?

Buttonhook Forge prides itself on being an American Made company. We source as much material we can from other American companies using American materials (steel, kydex, rivets…). These materials are then handcrafted into rugged knives in my shop by me.

how long before i get my knife after i purchase?

After an order has been made, we aim to have the knife shipped via USPS within 2 days. I do not keep awaiting inventory sharp so once an order is placed I hone a razor’s edge on the blade and then ready the item for shipping. A tracking number will be sent to you once shipped.
